Deeply divided, glossy leaves emerge with red tints and change to dark green by late summer. Stems bearing spikes of violet-blue, hooded flowers appear in autumn and are attractive to pollinating insects. 

Prefers a moisture retentive but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. CARE: All parts of the plants are TOXIC. Use gloves when handling.
