The smallest and most delicate member of the onion family. Long, thin, grass-like leaves are hollow inside. Pink flowers are produced in summer and are loved by pollinating insects. Leaves and flowers are edible and have a mild onion taste. Great as a flavouring in many dishes from quiche and soups to salads.

Prefers a well-drained, fertile soil in full sun or very light shade. Add grit to improve drainage on clay soils.

Spread: 12 - 18 inches / 30 - 45cm
