One for the connoisseur. The flower consists of the spadix (Jack) which is an erect spike of numerous tiny green to purple flowers and a green or purple sheath-like spathe (pulpit) which forms a hood. Flowers appear in mid summer and persist for many weeks.

Prefer a moist soil in partial shade. Needs a sheltered site. CARE: Roots are toxic
