Originates in Turkey c.1883. A delightful little bulb which gets its common name since it is one of spring’s early bloomers. Multiple star-shaped, six-petaled clustered bright blue flowers with small white centers atop dark stems appear mid spring. 

Prefers a well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Will slowly make clumps over time and naturalise via bulbils and/or seeding. Summer dormant.
