This woodland species of gentian has deep blue, trumpet-shaped flowers which appear on arching stems in late summer and autumn. Flowers are a magnet for pollinating insects. 

Prefers a moisture retentive but well-drained acidic soil in partial shade. Will tolerate some sun if soil stays reliably moist during the growing season.
