Large, saucer-shaped, reddish-plum coloured blooms appear in late winter and early spring. Flowers provide an important nectar source for early flying bees.
Prefers a fertile, well-drained soil in fuller partial shade. Remove old leaves in December or January to allow flower stems to emerge. CARE: Harmful if eaten. Handling can irritate the skin.
