Bluish-green divided leaves give rise to red buds which open to reveal attractive double, yellow pea-like flowers. Black pea-pods follow, which form on a bird's foot-shaped seed pod, hence the name. Flowers are a magnet for bees.

Prefers a well-drained soil in full sun.
