Strong square stems bearing dark green, toothed, oval leaves and are topped by silver-grey, velvety bracts and clusters of tiny, spotted, white or lavender fragrant flowers in summer. Foliage has a mint fragrance when crushed. Flowers are loved by pollinating insects  

Prefers a well-drained soil in sun or light shade. Will also tolerate damp or clay soils. Will spread to form ground cover but easily removed where not wanted. Tolerant of drought when established.
