Lynne's notes:

I find cyclamen fascinating especially how they distribute their seeds. When pollination takes place, a pea-sized pod forms and the flower stem begins to curl and spiral downwards towards the soil. When the seeds are ripe the pod opens to reveal coppery-red seeds. These are covered with a sweet coating which is attractive to ants. They eat the sweet coating and then drop the seeds often quite a distance from the mother plant. If like us you would like more plants, then simply spread the seeds on the surface of a tray of compost and cover lightly with a thin layer of grit and wait for them to germinate. It can take 3 - 4 years for the baby corms to flower from seed.
