This is a very handsome fern and when mature forms a wonderful specimen plant with a shuttlecock shape. In spring, young fronds unfurl a golden green which matures to a fresh, bright green. Each segment of the frond (pinna) displays a crest or tuft of growth at the end giving the whole frond a very distinctive appearance.

Prefers a moist, fertile soil in partial shade.
