A semi-evergreen fern from the Himalayas. The fronds grow in a shuttlecock arrangement. Added interest comes from the black scales on the stipes (stems).

Prefers a moisture retentive but well-drained soil in full or partial shade. Old fronds should be cut off at the base as they shrivel. Will tolerate dry shade once established.
