Dark burgundy flowers with reflexed petals are held high above dark purple marked leaves in late spring and early summer. Flowers are attractive to bees

Prefers any good garden soil in full or partial shade. Will tolerate being planted beneath trees if soil is improved when planted and kept moist until established. Cut right back after flowering to encourage fresh foliage. Will self seed.
