Native to Asia and Europe. Enlarged, tuberous roots give rise to semi-evergreen, wrinkled, hairy, dark green leaves and erect, dark reddish-brown stems bearing whorls of lilac-pink flowers in late spring and summer. 

Prefers a fertile well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. 

Height: 18-36 inches / 45-90cm

Spread: 12-24 inches / 30-60cm
