This is a very architectural variety with evergreen, prickly-edged, dark, blue-green, leathery leaves. Pale-green, cup-shaped flowers appear in winter and early spring and provide an important nectar source for early flying bees.

Prefers a fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Remove spent flower stems by cutting out at the base. This will allow new foliage to grow through. CARE: Harmful if ingested. Handling can cause skin irritation.

Height: 12 - 18 inches / 30 - 45cm

Spread: 18 - 36 inches / 45 - 90cm

AGM: The RHS Award of Garden Merit. Plants awarded an AGM are:

  • excellent for ordinary use in appropriate conditions
  • available
  • of good constitution
  • essentially stable in form and colour
  • reasonably resistant to pests and diseases
