A native of the prairies of central and eastern USA. The common names comes from the Native American use of its root as an antidote for rattlesnake venom (not tested by us!). The bluish-green, long, narrow leaves have a sharp tip and bristly edges. Tall branched stems bear clusters oh whitish, honey-scented flowers in summer. Flowers are a magnet for pollinating insects.

Prefers a well-drained soil in sun.
